The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) is a standardized test that the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has introduced to determine if a candidate is ready to be licensed as an entry-level nurse in Australia. To provide an outline for the examination, the test plan was developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc (NCSBN). This examination can be taken in most of the countries and is conducted by Pearson VUE.
In this module, the nurses will acquire knowledge and skills to pass the computerized multiple-choice examination. The preparatory program is based on the test plan of the examination and is delivered by experienced registered nurses and NCLEX -RN trainers.
NCLEX is an exam that requires a higher cognitive ability of a nurse, and one’s commitment to attend coaching classes as well as dedicating time in reading and answering both practice and mock tests will serve as a foundation in building energy and stamina needed to achieve this success. When study plan and timetable of the preparation class are provided ahead of time, one can be assisted with appropriate choices in committing to the course.
This is beyond your comfort zone. When one is outside their comfort zone, maximum learning can be achieved, as stated in the Theory of Constructivism.
NAI aspires and encourages each candidate to go beyond their comfort zone and be the ideal NCLEX candidate in becoming the next registered nurse who can provide quality of care to patients. Student’s success rates vary in their exams as based on the experience of our own NCLEX and OSCE teachers. This is due to various factors. This includes Discipline and Commitment in which students are required to be faithful on their study timetable. Nurse educators are there to provide guidance on the students, however, the process only becomes effective when it starts with the students first.
Thinking like a nurse – OBA Preparation Class students are already licensed nurses in their individual home countries. Thus, the nursing council has given their full trust on these students to possess the appropriate knowledge and skills and competence.
In NAI, nurse educators are expected to guide students through a higher level of thinking. Students are expected to use their learnings from theories to be put into application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of various nursing processes and concepts.
NCLEX and OSCE requires a higher level thinking, thus, making it more challenging. No one can decide for a nurse. Instead, the nurse has the capacity to make clinical decisions based on his/her learnings from books. A nurse has a long way for her career when there’s an integration of reflective practice and proactive.
NAI collaborates with students and promotes independent learning on its students to be responsible adults. NAI educators are trained to provide a psychologically safe learning environment. Students are encouraged to participate and share thoughts, ideas and comments. Whilst this is practiced, students are expected to maintain this safety amongst their peers and educators.
